In recent years, China in the field of plastics machinery achieved a series of breakthroughs, and quickly built up the international discourse power of China's plastic machinery, on the world stage to show China's strength. 18-21 November, ISO/TC270/WG2 (International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee for Plastics and Rubber Machinery Extruders Working Group) the 7th meeting was held successfully in China - Dalian. Guangdong Simcheng Plastic Machinery Company Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as“Simcheng”) General Manager Qin Zhihong attended the meeting as a registered expert of the working group.

What is ISO/TC270

ISO/TC 270 International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee for Plastics and Rubber Machinery was established in July 2012, the secretariat is located in the Italian Association for Standardization UN, until July 2021, there are a total of 17 P members and 8 O members, China is one of its P members, the International Organization for Standardization in the field of plastics machinery standardization technical organizations, also currently the world's most authoritative international standardization of specialised institutions. ISO/TC 270 set up three working groups, respectively, ISO/TC 270/WG1 injection moulding machine safety working group, ISO/TC 270/WG2 working group of extruders and ISO/TC 270/WG3 moulding system working group.

As the leader of the National Plastic Film Machinery Working Group, Simcheng has actively participated in the formulation and revision of various national standards of plastic machinery, industrial standards and group standards since the company was established, has played a great role in promoting the improvement of standards in the field of China's plastic machinery.

Conference Details

The National Technical Committee for Standardization of Rubber and Plastic Machinery hosted the meeting which was organized by Dalian Rubber and Plastic Machinery Co. Nearly 30 representatives from China, the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan and other countries participated in the meeting by combining on-site and online.

This meeting mainly discusses the draft of international standard ISO/WD 22506 “Safety Requirements for Extruders and Auxiliary Equipment of Plastic and Rubber Machinery”, which is organised and drafted for ISO/TC270/WG2, with the United States as the convening party and China as the co-convening party, as well as the opinions put forward by various countries. The meeting lasted for 4 days and was chaired by David Felinski, the Convener of the Working Group, the Administrator of ISO-US Technical Advisory Group, and Yang Hong, the Co-Convener, the Deputy Chief Engineer of Dalian Rubber & Plastic Machinery Co.

Yang Hong, the co-convener, chaired the discussion on the key elements of ISO/WD 22506 - comments and drafts related to the scope of the standard, during which experts from various countries discussed heatedly whether the scope of the standard includes only the extruder or the extruder with auxiliary equipment; David Felinski, the convenor of the working group, chaired the discussion on the safety requirements for various types of hazards in other chapters of ISO/WD 22506, information on the use of the standard, the organization of the follow-up work of the standard and the arrangement of the 8th meeting. After meticulous and enthusiastic discussions, the main contents of the meeting were completed on time and efficiently. The meeting decided to: adopt the scope of the standard as agreed by the experts in the meeting instead of the scope of the standard in the current draft; supplement the standard with corresponding illustrations; add requirements related to mechanical and thermal hazards of screen changers; and supplement the content related to the PL level of the type of interlocking protection with the responsibility of the registered experts from China and the United States......; The meeting decided that the 8th meeting of the Working Group would be held from March 4 to 6, 2025 at the VDMA in Frankfurt, Germany.
